Hollywood Calling!

My new country-rock single ‘Piece of the Action’ explodes into the world on Tuesday 7 October, the second track from my next album due for release in February 2026. I’d really love your support for this new music, simply by clicking and picking your listening fave platform here. You’ll then be notified automatically and be the first to hear it and add this new track to your playlists!

‘Piece of the Action’ was inspired by an I Heart Songwriting Club theme given to me one week of ‘action movie’. It was really fun to play around with! I created a song story with feminine attitude (something I write about a LOT, yass my Queens!!) but it’s also tongue-in-cheek and doesn’t take itself too seriously.  I hope that this sense of fun shines through for you in the listening, there’s plenty of film-related metaphors all wrapped up in a devil-may-care invitation to take a risk. The excitement of an action film drives the thrill of a brand-new, sexy romance, ready to burst into flames if you’re brave enough to take this girl on. You’re probably gonna get burned, but what a ride if you dare to take a chance!

You might feel like your life isn’t anything out of the ordinary in the everyday, but I hope this song empowers and reminds you to appreciate that you really ARE an action hero in so many ways (and for more people than you probably know) in your everyday. Write those headlines, get your name up in lights!

Cosplay Question – if you could be a movie star, an action hero up on the big screen, a Hollywood icon – who would YOU be?

‘Windscreen Dream’ single out now!

My brand-new single Windscreen Dream is now out in the world and your listening ears, and I’d really love to hear what you think! This free-wheeling country rock road trip is an invitation to jump in the car with me and take an immersive journey from nostalgic memory to the hope of a new beginning with no regrets; bound for the sun with your aviators on, leaving the one who did you wrong eating your dust as you move on.

I originally wrote Windscreen Dream as a regular participant of I Heart Songwriting Club, just one of 150 new songs I’ve written in this vibrant online creative community over the past three years. I also recently completed their first ever Intensive Songwriting Course over 10 weeks amongst a wonderfully talented group of songwriting peers and it was such a fantastic, inspiring learning experience that I even started writing on piano for the first time and explored some finger-picking techniques on guitar.

Windscreen Dream was always meant to be a country song in my mind from the very first demo draft that I recorded for I Heart. Getting behind the wheel and driving formed as my metaphor for looking forward and not back at the remains of something or someone that hasn’t worked out, heading off into the sunset and a brand-new start with no regrets. And of course, as a regional Queenslander, my lyrical road had to be a dusty one!

This is the debut single from my third (and first UK) studio project; all arranged, recorded, and engineered under the magic hands of Huey Dowling at Unit 7 Studio in South West Scotland and mastered by the legend that is Ben Findlay (Real World, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Jeff Beck). Huey also played slide, bass, acoustic and electric guitars on the track.

Huey has such a fantastic global network of musicians he can tap into for capturing a particular instrument, sound or style. For this track, we worked with Derek Urquhart on drums, Marc Clement on Hammond B3 grand piano, and Graham Rodger on steel pedal and mandolin. It’s been an absolute delight to collaborate with these talented artists for the first time.

My new partnership with Unit 7 Studio signals an empowered shift from my 2024 blues-rock EP Standing on the Fringe of Rooms towards a fresh new sound that flows across genres, from country pop and rock, to soul and even a bit of reggae. I’m so excited and I can’t wait for you to hear ALL of this beauty!

I’m also extremely grateful to Josh Hild, a wonderful photographer based in Seattle in the USA, who gave me permission to use his stunning shot for the single’s cover art! I’m incredibly humbled that he thought it super cool that I wanted to use it for my music release.

Get Ready for a Road Trip!

I’m super excited to announce that my brand new single ‘Windscreen Dream’ will be out in the world on Monday 21st July! I can’t wait for you to join me on this country rock road trip, which will be an irresistible journey from nostalgic memory to the hope of a new beginning; bound for the sun with your aviators on, leaving the one who did you wrong eating your dust as you move on. Presave now on your favourite digital platforms and be the first to listen on release day when it automatically drops into your inbox and ears. Jump in the passenger seat, let’s GO!

‘Windscreen Dream’ is the first in a series of singles that will be flowing your way from my next album (which is now my third studio project). This beauty was recorded, and engineered by Huey Dowling at Unit 7 Studio in South West Scotland, and mastered by Ben Findlay (Real World, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Jeff Beck). These exciting new partnerships signal an empowered shift from my 2024 blues-rock EP Standing on the Fringe of Rooms towards a fresh new sound that crosses galaxies of country pop and rock, to soul, Celtic and even some reggae rhythms.

‘All We Can Do’ – New Single is A Message of Hope

My new single All We Can Do is out now on all your favourite streaming platforms and I’d really love to hear what you think!  This is emotive, lushly instrumented pop-reggae track navigates the adversities we all face at one time or another in life, underpinned by a positive message of holding on to hope, to uncover our inner strength. To keep calm and carry on, and to renew ourselves in the eye of the storm with faith.

I originally wrote ‘All We Can Do’ as a blues-rock song for my second album, released on my 2024 Australian tour. Even though not released as single at that time, it achieved an Australian Songwriting Association Top 10 indie-rock award and a UK Songwriting Award commendation in my first year of entering, recognition for my writing that I’m super proud of. Huey Dowling at Unit 7 Studio in South West Scotland thought it would also sound fantastic as a pop single, and we worked together to re-imagine the original blues-rock album track. I was very excited to also work for the first time with Ben Findlay (Real World, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Jeff Beck, to name a few) who mastered the track.

This collaboration with Unit 7 Studio will also see the release later this year of my third (and first UK) Kissing The Flint album ‘Rule The World’, showcasing my songwriting versatility and an empowered shift towards a fresh sound with country pop/rock, soul, and even reggae-ska influences heading your way.

‘All We Can Do’ reflects on how we all have the ability and strength within ourselves to push through and soldier on, even when our days feel darkest. When we feel like mere spectators of our own lives, standing on the outside looking in and fearing that we’re losing control over our destiny, try to remember that all is not lost. Ride the rolling stone and believe that the light is waiting for you up ahead to banish the shadows, if you can only hold on to hope.

I hope this song brings some light and hope into your world in some pretty crazy times in modern history.
Together, we are stronger – and you are stronger than know.
Keep moving forward, always. We’ve got this thing called life!

New Single Friday 28 February!

When times are tough and all hope seems lost – music saves. The light coming at you in a dark tunnel where we all journey at one time or another isn’t a train, it really is the light and is always there, waiting up ahead for you, if you just hold on to hope! Faith is always there, standing at your shoulder.
All We Can Do’ is an emotive, lushly instrumented pop track that navigates the adversities we all face in life at one time or another, buoyed by an underpinning message of holding on to hope, to uncover your inner strength, to keep calm and carry on, to find the eye of the storm and rest there in the calm.

Summer Sizzler!

🌞  KTF have been flat out like a lizard drinking these past few months, powering out across a sizzling summer festival season here in the northern hemisphere. Plenty of miles and new experiences have been clocked up. We performed for the first time this year at the Beattock BashWigtown ShindyMusic At The MultiverseKirkcudbright Fringe and Stranraer Oyster Festival. What a thrill to perform in lineups among stellar artists such as Toploader, The Hoosiers and Tide Lines. And bagging the ‘dunny shot’ when you get your name on a poster in the venue toilets…😆

✨ We’ve met so many wonderful folk behind the scenes and out in the audience this summer. You’re who we do this for! We can’t thank you enough for coming along to our gigs, taking the time out to chat and letting us know how much you enjoy our music. It really does mean the world to us!

🤘🤘🤘 go to Adrian, Ken and Alex, my ‘band boi bitches’ who continue to believe in my original music and give their heart and soul to the songs, each and every time they get up on stage. It’s so much fun being up there with you guys!

😎 Big love also to all of the organisers and dedicated volunteer teams who work incredibly hard all year long to make sure that performers and audiences have such a brilliant time every summer. Thanks so much for having us at your fabulous events this year, you’re all total legends!

🍁 With the Autumn equinox now upon us, things are slowing down a wee bit, but there’s still some brilliant gigs ahead to keep you warm as the leaves turn and we race towards Harvest, Halloween and Christmas. Remaining 2024 dates and ticket links are listed on our home page.

Our 2025 calendar is already starting to book up and we also have our third album waiting in the wings that we can’t wait to share with you, so stay tuned!

Life On The Fringe!

Hello, my lovelies, I hope you all had a very Happy Easter!  Ken and I had a quiet one, we’re still getting back to balance as it’s just a few weeks since we arrived back in the UK from Australia. We flew home via Shanghai and it was really exciting to experience a new country for the very first time, we’d love to go back sometime for a bit longer! Riding the 300km/hour Maglev train and seeing the City’s iconic skyline were highlights of our whirlwind stopover. Being welcomed home by water pouring from our living room ceiling here in Scotland was not so exciting! Unpacking two months of suitcase life on the road had to wait until we cleaned up the mess, not exactly how we thought our trip would end. But hey ho! Mouldy curtains and furniture aside, we’re both still buzzing after an epic Australian tour that exceeded our expectations. Sharing long-awaited hugs, chats and music with so many of our favourite humans, we’ve missed them so much since moving to the UK in 2020. Hanging out with really amazing artists and making brand-new friends. Rocking our hearts out in front of audiences who gave that big energy back to us in spades at each and every show. Performing at super supportive venues, all passionate about live music. Reconnecting with our talented Aussie band boys and rediscovering the joy of playing live together again after nearly 4 years apart. Losing count of the number of memories we banked along the way, our hearts overflowing with gratitude at every turn. Simply magic!

Our ‘Fringe of Rooms’  tour would not have been remotely possible without the invaluable support of ALL the following Rockstars:

‘Fringe of Rooms’ Australian Tour 2024

Since relocating to her father’s native Scotland in 2020, Queensland singer-songwriter Leah Chynoweth-Tidy has been wowing brand-new northern hemisphere audiences as Kissing The Flint. She is now firing up for a much-anticipated home soil return from January to March 2024, showcasing a new album in a sizzling summer of live performance dates on her ‘Fringe of Rooms’ Australian tour.

A big tour highlight will be a main stage spot alongside stellar artists Vika & Linda at #AgnesBluesFest in February. Leah met Vika on stage during a shared Rockwiz 2010 regional tour guest spot, an unforgettable experience that inspired Leah to kick-start her own music career. It’s a dream come true for Leah to find herself now sharing a bill with the legendary Bull sisters.

Leah is a multi-award nominated singer-songwriter who created performing project ‘Kissing The Flint’ (‘creating a spark’) to focus on her original songs and connect their powerful energies with a global audience. Her first award nomination landed in 2020 for Australian Celtic Song of the Year and the recognition momentum for her songwriting has continued to snowball ever since.

The Australian tour is set to showcase the February 2024 release of the sophomore Kissing The Flint album ‘Standing on the Fringe of Rooms’, which is the much anticipated follow-up to Leah’s 2019 debut EP ‘Unconditionality’.

‘We’re getting the Aussie band back together and releasing a blues-rock album! My bass player husband Ken and I haven’t made music in the same room with our guitarist Laurie Rayment and drummer Louis Parish since 2020 when we moved to the UK, so we’re all raring to go. This is a long overdue reunion, we can’t wait to rock out together and share all of this new music with our Australian fans!’

The new album will showcase Leah’s songwriting versatility, encompassing the shimmery surf-rock Dune Girl’ shortlisted for the 2022 Australian Songwriting Assocation Inc (ASAI) awards, the call-to-arms for the arts anthem ‘100 Or Less’  , battle of the sexes showdown ‘Gunslinger Love and an as-yet unreleased track of global hope ‘All We Can Do’, which has already earned a Top 10 Indie-Rock finalist place in the ASAI awards and a commended in the UK Songwriting Competition.

Authenticity and emotion flow through Leah’s connective songwriting and empowering live performances, fueled by a powerful, versatile voice. Song themes flow from an adventurous spirit with crystal clarity of message and vivid imagery drawn from experience, empathy and imagination.

From one mesmerising moment to the next, this dynamic performer moves easily from roots beauty to sultry rock raunch in explorations of the human condition, a genuine desire to empower others and a lifelong affinity with the natural world.

Gunslinger Love – Official Music Video

Following the release of the third single ‘Gunslinger Love’ from her forthcoming sophomore album ‘Standing on the Fringe of Rooms’, Australian-born singer-songwriter Leah Chynoweth-Tidy (Kissing the Flint – ‘to create a spark’) recently brought the track to vibrant life on screen with the release of the official music video on her Youtube channel.

A riff-laden blues-rock epic, ‘Gunslinger Love’ powers up with all guns blazing and thunders into the ultimate star-crossed love showdown between the sexes. The video for the track was filmed in several locations where Queenslander Leah is now based in her father’s native Scotland.

“One of our film locations was the Coach and Horses Inn, Dumfries, with a rich history and one of our favourite places to play,” says Leah. “This centuries-old pub has plenty of character and great vibes thanks to genuine live music lovers who support local muso’s here regularly. We put out the call for acting extras to have some fun in our bar-room scenes and we all had a great day filming the action. Everyone got into the spirit by dressing up and hamming it up and you can see that playfulness in the scenes. It all ended up as a kind of steampunk-infused Westworld meets Star Wars cantina filled with quirky characters,” she grins.

Gunfight scenes were captured at historic Hazlefield House, home to Kissing The Flint’s UK guitarist (and Gunslinger in the video) Adrian Grogan. Kissing The Flint rehearse regularly in one of the original old outbuildings, now set up as a live band room and recording studio. Legend has it that Mary Queen of Scots spent her final night at Hazlefield before leaving Scotland, never to return.

Outdoor scenes were filmed on the Southern Upland Way among the atmospheric ruins of Kilhern, a group of tumble-down stone farm buildings surrounded by ancient neolithic and bronze age remnants. Leah and bass-player husband Ken moonlight as tour guides and volunteer rangers on the Way, which is Scotland’s longest coast-to-coast walking route. Kilhern is one of their favourite locations and they were keen to capture it in some of the Gunslinger scenes. The filming day was their most challenging, with all of the camera gear and costume box having to be carried in by backpack and out again.

Recorded with Dave Beacon at High Lion Studio in Queensland and mastered by Grammy-award nominated Ben Findlay in the UK, ‘Gunslinger Love’ is the third single to be lifted from Kissing The Flint’s forthcoming album Standing On The Fringe of Rooms. The album is due for release in February 2024 during Kissing the Flint’s long awaited Australian tour, which will be Leah’s first time back on home soil in over 3 years.

New single ‘Gunslinger Love’ OUT NOW!

My brand- new single ‘Gunslinger Love’ is now out in the world and available to stream on your favourite digital platforms across the globe➡️https://gyro.to/GunslingerLove
I’m so proud of this song and the wonderful team behind me to breathe life into this creative vision. I’d love to know what you think of it, please do reach out with an email or message my social media pages, I’d love to hear from you!

A riff-laden blues-rock epic, ‘Gunslinger Love’  powers up with all guns blazing and thunders into the ultimate star-crossed love showdown between the sexes.

‘Feisty, empowered women feature regularly in my songwriting and this new single is no exception. Centered around a western gunfight scenario, this is a girl-vs-boy battle; both gunslingers drawn to the ultimate showdown but resisting their attraction every step of the way. Ultimately there must be a winner of this showdown, but the track will leave you wondering – who will win the long-term war of wills? Gunslinger Part II? Anything’s possible!’

To record this latest track, I teamed up once again with the talented Dave Beacon at High Lion Studio, who co-produced, mixed and mastered my 2019 debut EP ‘Unconditionality’. ‘Gunslinger Love’ was mastered by Grammy-nominated record producer and sound engineer Ben Findlay and I was delighted to be working with him for the very first time on this project. I arranged ‘Gunslinger Love’ with seasoned riff-master Laurie Rayment (guitars) and the track also features my husband Ken Chynoweth-Tidy (bass), Louis Parish (drums) and Win Liv Shak (Hammond B3).

‘Gunslinger Love’ is the third single to be lifted from the Kissing The Flint forthcoming album project Standing On The Fringe of Rooms, following on from previous single releases ‘100 Or Less’ and ‘Dune Girl’. Stay tuned for the album release date later this year, followed by an Australian tour January-March 2024!
