kissing the flint – creating sparks

Multi-award nominated international singer-songwriter Leah Jett is an Australian-brewed artist, Scottish-distilled since 2020 where she has been based in her father’s native land. Leah created Kissing The Flint (translation: creating a spark) to cut through the fakery of the modern world. Fueled by an authentic, adventurous spirit, powerhouse voice and shape-shifting depth of songwriting alchemy, she captivates audiences with heartfelt stories and vivid imagery, softness and sass – moving easily from melodic, roots beauty to empowered rock raunch, one mesmerising moment to the next.

Rule The World was arranged, recorded, and engineered by Huey Dowling at Unit 7 Studio (Bladnoch) in South West Scotland, where driving force singer-songwriter Leah Chynoweth-Tidy is now based in her father’s homeland. This relocation and fresh creative alliance have sparked an empowered shift in sound, grounding this album in both personal heritage and forward momentum. Mastered by Ben Findlay (Real World, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Jeff Beck), this album fuses polish with raw emotional depth, free-wheeling through country pop and rock, soul, Celtic influences, and even a subtle touch of reggae in a rich and diverse sonic landscape. Every track showcases Leah’s songwriting strength and vocal versatility, blending heartfelt storytelling with adventurous, lush and layered arrangements. This is an expansive, genre-fluid album that feels rooted yet fearless, reflecting an artist fully stepping into her creative power. ... See MoreSee Less

Kissing The Flint
🤗 The final track released in 2025 ahead of the full ‘Rule The World’ album totally flipped the coin on genres from the previous two releases - eclectic is my middle name!🌾 ‘Against The Grain’ was inspired by an I Heart Songwriting Club theme word of ‘lentils’ which just goes to show, you really can write a song about anything! Even though lentils are (technically) a pulse in the food world, artistic license beats technical,so ‘going against the grain’ formed as my idea around which I built this message of inspiration.🎶 This is my reggae-infused anthem celebrating individuality, freedom, and the courage to live authentically. A laid-back skank groove interchanges with uplifting rhythms, encouraging you to dance to your own drum and embrace life on your own terms. This song is a timely reminder that true joy comes from following your inner compass, even when the world moves in another direction. Blending sun-soaked melodies with a rebellious, yet positive spirit, this is both an irresistible groove and a life philosophy—a reminder that carving your own, unique path is the most powerful, inspiring rhythm of all!❓ So – which is your fave album track so far – Against The Grain, Piece of the Action, or Windscreen Dream?🤩 And I just can’t WAIT for you to hear the other 7 tracks TOMORROW – from country rock/pop, to soul, to Celtic and a touch of reggae, there’s something for everyone on this latest audio adventure!Arranged, recorded, and engineered by Huey Dowling at Unit 7 Studio (Bladnoch), SW Scotland, UKMastered by Ben Findlay, UK ...
