 My new country-rock single ‘Piece of the Action’ is OUT NOW on various digital streaming platforms. I’d love to hear what you think about this sassy new track!
I’m over the moon that this song was also recently shortlisted for the annual Australian Songwriting Association Inc. (ASAI) awards in the ‘Country’ category. Keeping fingers, toes and everything else crossed for the next stage of judging later this month when the Top 30 is announced, followed by the final Top 10 ahead of the award ceremony in November. Being shortlisted already feels like some kind of crazy dream!
‘Piece of the Action’ was inspired by an I Heart Songwriting Club theme of ‘action movie’. With a truckload of feminine attitude, it’s also tongue-in-cheek and doesn’t take itself too seriously. I hope this sense of fun shines through for you in the listening and my film-related metaphors all wrapped up in a devil-may-care invitation to take a risk. The excitement of an action film drives the thrill of a brand-new, sexy romance, ready to burst into flames if you’re brave enough to take this hot stuff chick on. Get your welding gloves on for one helluva ride and dare to take a chance!
‘Piece of the Action’ is the second single from my brand new album being launched next February on my Australian tour. I’m very excited about this release, which was arranged, recorded, and engineered under the magic hands of Huey Dowling at Unit 7 Studio in South West Scotland (where I’m currently based) and mastered by the fabulous Ben Findlay (Real World, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Jeff Beck).
Huey plays bass, acoustic and electric guitars, and sings backing vocals on ‘Piece’. Keyboard wiz Marc Clement works his magic with Hammond B3 and Fender Rhodes, and multi-instrumentalist Derek Urquhart brings the strut and swagger home on drums and slide guitar. It’s been so inspiring to work with these multi-talented creators for the first time on this album, and I’m incredibly humbled that they genuinely dig my songwriting enough to have joined me on this journey. Connections like these are incredibly special and I’m so grateful for it all.
